During the Middle Ages, you could enter or leave Tongeren through one of its six city gates. Unfortunately, only one gate, Moeren Gate, built in 1379 is still intact. It has been converted into a museum on Tongeren’s military history. Visitors to this robust tower are rewarded with a fabulous panoramic view of the beguinage and city centre.
